Hain Lifescience GmbH is an innovative manufacturer
and supplier of modern diagnostic systems and therapeutic agents. It intends
to considerably expand its position in the field of molecular diagnostics
in the next few years.
In order to achieve this Hain can take
advantage of its successful business operations and experience gained over
more than ten years in the medical and diagnostic fields, its strong market
position, extensive co-operations and broad R&D knowledge base.
On this basis Hain Lifescience
GmbH is pursuing a three-step expansion strategy which is centred
on the innovative DNA Strip® technology
and various therapeutic drug developments and marketing contracts:
- DNA•Strips® as the base line technology
DNA•Strips® are comparable to DNA chips and despite
certain analytical limitations, have the decisive advantage for diagnostic
applications of enabling an accurate and specific diagnosis while substantially
reducing the costs for manufacture and analysis.
- HAIN has already established very promising
DNA•Strip® diagnostic products on the market
- The product portfolio has been expanded by new
in-house developments and by patent and licence cooperations.
- Whereas we already have a well-established distribution
network in Germany, marketing alliances are now being expanded in Europe
and worldwide.
- In addition to our own products, we are also able
to develop and produce DNA•Strips® on commission.
- Economics of scale are achieved by automation.
There are no limits to the scale of the DNA•Strip® manufacture. Cross-sellings
result from the utilization of our distribution network by third parties.
- Market regions in which there is not an adequate
network of commercial laboratories such as dentists are covered by our own
laboratory.
- Development alliances with research
companies in the field of DNA-chip technology allow a continuous
updating of the DNA•Strip® technology and
at the same time allow an early switch to new DNA-chip technologies as soon
as they become technically feasible.
- Extension of the value added chain by development
alliances with pharmaceutical manufacturers and optionally by marketing the
resulting therapeutic agents.
The know-how obtained from the diagnostic research can
be used to develop corresponding therapeutic agents. The first therapeutic
agents for the treatment of periodontitis were launched on the market in 2001.
- Visions
- A compact DNA•Strip® analytical system that
can be used locally is being developed by HAIN (Point-of-care-diagnostics).
- Development and sales of DNA•Strip® diagnostic
systems for the food industry. .
