Press release of german MRSA reference center (Robert Koch-Institut): Fast detection of multi-resistant pathogens
At Robert Koch-Institut a new test for the reliable detection of MRSA was designed. In the context of a license agreement between Robert Koch-Institut and the Hain Lifescience GmbH in Nehren then the was further developed for routine practice (GenoType® MRSA Direct).

GenoType® Staphylococcus
The GenoType® Staphylococcus test permits the identification of the staphylococcal species S. aureus, S. haemolyticus, S. epidermidis, S. hominis, S. warneri, and S. simulans. At the same time the methicillin resistance mediating mecA gene and the two component cytotoxin virulence factor PVL (Panton-Valentine leukocidin) can be detected.

Launch of GenoType® Mycobacterium CM and AS
GenoType® Mycobacterium CM replaces the established GenoType® Mycobacterium and has implemented several improvements. Additionally, we offer you now the GenoType® Mycobacterium AS to complete the GenoType® Mycobacterium series. The GenoType® Mycobacterium AS detects further species of clinical relevance. As a special feature, both tests have a genus control band which allows the detection of mycobacterial species in the lysate.

GenoType® HH 2.0
The GenoType® HH 2.0 is designed for detection of hereditary hemochromatosis related SNP. In the 2.0 version, two new SNP were added: the S65C mutation (allele frequency approx. 1%) and the rare but clinically significant E168X mutation.

We are happy to present you a new version of our GenoType® MRSA kit. To further increase the diagnostic power and reliability of the assay. The test now detects S. epidermidis in addition to S. aureus. You can process the test as normal. However, please note that the arrangement of the probes on the DNA-STRIP® has changed. For evaluation of results it is therefore crucial to use the new template provided with the kit.
